Savannah Guthrie’s absence from the “Today” Show surprised fans, with Craig Melvin filling in for her. It was later revealed that she was on a book tour for her latest work, “Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere,” where she recently had a stop in Texas, supported by former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush.

However, Guthrie faced backlash from fans after an interview aired right before her tour. She spoke with Kelly Rowland about her upcoming Netflix film, “Mea Culpa,” but fans were upset that Guthrie brought up Rowland’s close friend, Beyoncé, during the conversation. One viewer called it “very disrespectful to ask [Rowland] about Beyoncé every freaking time she comes on your show.”

Guthrie’s focus on Beyoncé instead of Rowland’s film left many viewers frustrated, sparking conversations about respecting interviewees’ boundaries. As Guthrie continues her book tour, it remains to be seen how the “Today” Show will address the controversy and move forward.
