On October 16, emergency services were alerted of an explosion in Newcastle.

The tragic incident claimed the life of seven-year-old Archie York. Later, another body, believed to be of a 30-year-old man, was found under the debris of the three houses destroyed on Violet Close in Benwell.

Six other people have been rushed to the hospital, and it is believed that there are no people missing. The rest of the residents have been staying with friends and relatives.
